To use TTS with Kindle for PC you have to turn it on in the Tools menu, or press “Ctrl,T” on your keyboard. Here’s a basic summary on how to use TTS with Kindle for PC: Text-to-Speech Keyboard Shortcuts

To use these shortcuts, you must enable Text-to-Speech first. In the Choose commands from list, select All Commands. One annoying thing about Kindle for PC is the fact that it doesn’t support personal documents that you’ve added to your Amazon account, but it will open supported files from your computer. Text-to-Speech is only supported with Mac OSX 10.10 or above. You can add the Speak command to your Quick Access Toolbar by doing the following in Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and OneNote: Next to the Quick Access Toolbar, click Customize Quick Access Toolbar. PDFs can be imported into Kindle for PC as well and text-to-speech works with them too. I tested a few MOBI and PRC files and TTS worked fine. Kindle for PC’s text-to-speech feature also works with non-Amazon content. In Accessibility, select the VoiceOver option. Look for Accessibility within the General tab and tap on it. Open Settings on your iOS device and tap General. It says on the product page if an ebook supports TTS or not under the “Product details” section. Just follow the below steps and you will be able to configure text-to-speech on Kindle from the General Settings menu in iOS.

Not all Kindle books support TTS but a lot of them do.
